Wed 27 Feb - Evening Lecture in Invercargill for Southland Branch of NZSG
“Graeme Mackenzie, on tour from Inverness, set the branch’s programme for the year off with a presentation in February - as before he gave a fascinating and knowledgeable discourse on Family History Research in the Highlands of Scotland. It was held in the Public Library’s refurbished Meeting Room. His updated book was on sale and is a worthy purchase for branch libraries as a reference for Scottish genealogy.”

“Graeme Mackenzie’s presentation, held in Waikanae on Tuesday March 5th, was well attended with 90 people taking the opportunity to come and listen to him talk about The Clans, Septs and Surnames in the Highlands of Scotland, plus Researching Your Highland Ancestors: Understanding Genealogy in the Gaidhealtachd. His work as a clan historian has given him a unique insight into the Highland clans, past and present …. Graeme fascinated the audience with his wealth of knowledge, including the migration of their early ancestors between Ireland and Scotland, how the Vikings came to Scotland, plus - as we all know - the variation you can get with spelling of names. Graeme also spoke on how to research your Highland ancestors, providing advice on Where to Find Family History Records in Scotland.”
